PLEASE dont call it "TURKEY DAY", its THANKSGIVING day.
lets not trivialize the meaning of the holiday
by over-embracing how we celebrate it.
its not about whats ON the table,
its about the freedom and opportunity to BE ABLE to GATHER at the table
with family and friends and be thankful for them
and those who made and make it possible TO celebrate.
would our families, friends and freedoms be any less appreciated sharing a goose?
or a duck? a beef or venison roast? lobster and king crab legs?
and arent the sides made up to be a big deal too?
so why dont we call it "green bean casserole day"?
its THANKSGIVING DAY ! do we call christmas "tree day"?
do we call halloween "pumpkin day"?
do we call independence day "fireworks day"?
no, many dont even call it "independence day",
they call it july 4th. what am i missing here?
happy THANKSGIVING day everyone,
and no matter what your eat,
give thanks for family, friends
and those who risked and/or gave everything for our freedoms we enjoy everyday.

 UGH....and lest I forget the women police officers...fire fighters..military members etc.

Dropped the ball there for a minute in my earlier comment!

Must have been that turkey I ate for Thanksgiving making me sleepy!...

 I agree...it should be Happy Thanksgiving...since it is not really supposed to be about the food, but the family gathering together to give thanks.

As to men in military..police or firefighter uniforms I will 9 times out of 10 say a "thank you" to them for their service and wish them a safe day if I happen to see them. And I usually will bless myself and say a silent prayer (catholic girl...lol) if a firetruck or police car/fire truck passes me.

Both of my daughters are going to nursing school..so medical professionals are awesome too. Especially those that donate some time to those less fortunate..
