TODAY SHOULD BE NATIONAL DUCK TAPE DAY
TODAY SHOULD BE NATIONAL DUCK TAPE DAY 50 years ago today is when the apollo 13 service module oxygen tank exploded, precipitating the course of events that lead them to use duck tape to adapt an air filter from the command module (which was square) to keep them alive in the lunar module (which used a round one) long enough to get back to earth safely. interesting stuff, invented by a woman during ww2 for the military, who also used it for waterproofing canvas backpacks and leather boots, hence the name "duck" tape. later also became known as "duct" tape when marketed to contractors after the war. as red green calls it, "the handymans secret weapon". what other miracles has it been used for over the years ? ! When I used to play curling I used it to improve the slide-ability (is there even such a word) of the toe on my right curling shoe, worked a treat so it did. I always thought it was just called duct tape, thanks for enlightening me McThik!

I think I have a roll of duct tape lying around here somewhere. Better check on it, it might've glued itself together by now.

Yep Vest Stroudt!! And I love this: " Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Environmental Energy Division concluded that you should never use Duct tape to seal ducts. Their tests showed that under typical duct conditions, duct tape becomes brittle and will fail quickly. Duct tape also can catch on fire or just smolder and produce toxic smoke. Because of this, it’s usage on ducts has been prohibited by the state of California as well as in building codes in most of the US" “One only needs two tools in life: WD-40 to make things go, and duct tape to make them stop.” –G.
