A Workaround For Slow-Loading Blog Pages
A Workaround For Slow-Loading Blog Pages Hello, all: A few bloggers have noted frustration with slow-loading blog pages. I've got no answers... but for folks with PCs and two-button mice, I can offer a workaround. When trying to access the main blog page, or any of the sub-pages such as "Where I'm Quoted" or a specific blog: 1. Click on Community, so the drop down menu appears. Mouse over to Blogs, but do NOT click on it with the left mouse button. 2. Instead, click on it with the right mouse button. Doing so will bring up a menu of choices. One of the choices is to open the blogs in a new tab. 3. Instead, click on that with the left mouse button. Your destination will eventually open in a new tab. It'll still take time to load, but the time seems to be reduced. Not sure why it works, but it does. Spread the word! Stop in, read, and offer comments at my "swinging as seen in the media" blog, "Confessions of a Lifestyle Man" humorlife, which is also the home of the monthly virtual symposium. I've been doing that but what I told Ghost still applies. What I've found is if I scroll down a page the links to the main blog page, or My Blog page, or 'quoted me' won’t work. If I go to another page like the search page and click on the link it works. It seems like if I've scrolled down a page (any page) the link to My Blog page won't work. I have no explanation – it just does that. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I'm as mystified as you are. Wish I could provide some answers... only other note I might make is that during the weekday -- high-traffic times -- this method may not work. Sorry about this, man: If I come across any other tricks, I'll let you know. No need to apologize you offered good input. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I don't doubt you, ever! But, this site - I always doubt. And, I'm a nerd and a former geek: I test everything. As for being a "former" geek... no such thing. Once a geek, always a geek. And I speak from both nerd pride and geek pride. May the wind beneath your wings always be strong enough to carry a laden African swallow! I tried that for a couple of days last week and mercifully, I was able to convince myself it was working. It gave me some respite from my anger at the perennially dysfunctional site. And after a while, that too stopped working as well as it had appeared to. I'm a lot less concerned that you have no answers than I am that the site has no answers, or clues, either. Most of you folks here are too young to remember the days of broadcast TV, when we had two or three channels if we were lucky, and managed to convince ourselves that standing in the front yard on one leg with our torsos parallel to the earth while wearing a tin foil fez with an antenna shoved up our asses would get us better reception Become a member now and get a free tote bag.

For those for whom it doesn't... I might also offer completely turning off one's computer, waiting, and then restarting (the standard IT response), trying to open a few new tabs at a time (not going to help, but at least one can browse the first one to resolve while waiting for the others) and... considering it an exercise in Zen tolerance. Tinfoil and posing... ah, yes. The days of rabbit ear televisions. Kids today don't have it nearly as good, do they? I'm not sorry as in apologetic: I am just a blogger here, with no access to, input to, or even communication with management. But I am sorry in terms of folks' unnecessary frustration. If this trick works, even for a few of 'em, no harm, no foul. I agree that your suggestions are worth a try. It certainly can't make the place work any worse. It appears to me that the site cannot last long. Lying about hacking and restriction of site privileges are one thing- poor choices, both. But a nonfunctioning website is another matter entirely. I makes me feel as though my free gold card isn't worth the price. This is a lot like having a vintage performance car stored in the garage. It was once exhilarating to drive but now all you can do is sit in it and dream of the days when it actually started and ran. You still have the car, but now you can only sit in it and jack off. I've only stayed on this site because of the bloggers, and their blogs. The site is killing the blogs. And they don't even know they're doing it. This is no longer a dating site. Now it's a stress test. Become a member now and get a free tote bag.

What you're looking for is the option of opening a new tab. Try holding your finger over the item you would otherwise right click on -- don't just tap it, hold it. That may -- depending on the browser you're using -- give you the option to open in a new tab. Or it might not. If it doesn't, just hook up the stereo to the iPad and blast that porn, baby... the neighbors NEED to hear every moan and yowl. Brilliant! Cheers! One of these days it may not even matter. I suppose I'll be here, as long as there is a here. Some of us are on fb together so we can keep in touch when and if this place does eventually go belly up. Hope/glad this is working for you! And yes, we'll keep on here together, despite management's best efforts... My workaround is to get to my blog first, but only from the tab on My Profile. Once on my blog, I click on the blue Blogs at top left to see the main Blogs page. And regardless where I access it from, my 'Where I'm Quoted' page initially comes up blank. It actually tells me I have not been quoted, ever. The first time it happened I actually thought A.F.F. had deleted all the blog comments I ever made. I refresh and the information loads fine second time around.
