About the messaging change

NaughtyInSO posted a link in her own post-Am I Wrong- leading to a Site Support post about the change in standard members' messaging privileges. The Site Support link is [post 3707543]. Read both posts! NaughtyInSO had some interesting things to say about a change in the kinds of messages she's receiving that are thought provoking. I won't repeat them here because you really should read what she had to say in her own words.

Yeah, so I go to Naughty's. From there I took another link, not sure if she sent me cuz I cannot remember since the new link got me involved in something else.

Then, up pops this banner notifying me that kzoo has posted. Well damn! He did say he was gonna start posting more, but twice in one night? Of course when I clicked on the banner it sent me right back to where I started...

 It could well be the biggest losers on this deal are the already gold members, cause if you think about it, we're paying for this shit that is going on right now.

I read somewhere, that someone purchased a "Standards contact", and it didn't do a damn bit of good.

Hopefully the powers that be, will get their heads out of their asses and see they fucked up on this deal.

Especially if the membership overall takes a big hit !!

 Good to see you here, Sphx! I've been against the change since I first heard of it. But a couple of the women here are saying that the quality of their messages has improved. I kind of doubt that admin made the change for that reason! But if that's an unintended consequence, I might change my mind. It's unfortunate that the decent standard members, the ones who know how to compose a polite message, will have to pay for that improvement with their messaging privileges, though. However, it often goes that way- that some asshats ruin it for the rest of us. I reckon I'll just have to wait and see, like everyone else.

Maybe, Sweet V, but I'm not sure. It takes a lot of pressure to get evil corporate overlords to change their minds. All we can do is make our wants known and wait and see. We AREN'T just a bunch of whine asses here- we're customers. We don't all see eye to eye, but we're still consumers. If the change results in fewer messages to women members from asshats, maybe they could have an option for members to block all messages from standard members, or not, as each member chooses.

 I don't know that I've noticed a change in the kind of emails I receive. But then, I get maybe one a day and even the relatively well written ones tend to get turned down for one reason or another (e.g. the message says he's interested in finding a relationship; but when I go to his profile it's all about NSA hookups. Gotta at least give those guys credit for reading my profile and trying to tailor their email ).

Wellll...I reckon...at least he probably read it. In defense, I suppose plenty of people are a bit flexible about what they might want, but it doesn't make it into their profile. I can't judge- we get very few emails from folks who aren't already friends, so there isn't anything to analyze. Here, it usually isn't profiles so much as blogs that pique my interest. I have met some fine people blogging.

Yeah, I think the cost is being sort of downplayed by some of the members, as if someone who isn't willing to pay is cheap or destitute. But that cost adds up over the span of a year and if you haven't had any success it may just not be worth the return. Or you might just want to wait and see if there's a chance it'll pan out before you start shelling out the monthly fee. It's a financial transaction for the customer just as it is for the site, and you ought to be able to haggle over the price and the privileges.
