Asylum Lake 20 October 2015

It was another beautiful October day. the sky to the north of Asylum Lake stayed an ominous dark grey and to the south a brilliant blue with cottony white clouds. The photos can speak for themselves.

Very cool

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

again, more fantastic shots. Are the first two milkweed pods? And what about that big one that looks like it about to burst open (3rd last pic)? I love them all.

We need to know more about this camera. Seriously.

I can't take a decent photo. I don't have a steady hand and everything ends up blurry. How do you manage to get such good shots? It also must be a pretty extraordinary camera. It's not a point and shoot jobbie.
The camera I used all winter and spring was a point and shoot, and I got some pretty fair pictures with it. I'd really like a macro lens for this one- I love taking those closeups. I'm patient and my hands don't shake. I know what I think looks good and that's about it. You oughta see the private collection!

Actually although the thermometer said sixty five it was pretty warm hiking.

Yeah- the first two are milkweed. I like taking pictures of them all year round. They're always doing something interesting. The third from last is Queen Anne's lace and it's closing up. It'll dry to brown and stay like that all winter. They can look really cool when they're frosted.

It's nigh impossible to keep her out of the water, even when it's cold. She nearly dragged PD into the pond today.

I'm not a fast enough action photographer to capture her playing in the water. She gets so gassed up she just explodes! Once in a while i get lucky and snap one.

Enjoy while you can. Sounds like you are about to get a snap of cold.
Great shots.

We've had some frost but no snow yet. Frost, snow or rain, we'll enjoy it anyway.

If I could change one technical thing about this site it would have to do with photos. I'd like my posted pictures to be hotlinks to full screen versions of themselves. The quality of the images is quite high in the original and would not deteriorate on any but the very largest screens. And if I were to get that one thing, my next wish would be to have the damned things stay posted.

The water drops around Gracie in that photo are the reason I liked it so much. It isn't quite as effective in a small size.
