That Red Tail

They do look a lot alike. It's pretty impressive what all of them can do with those beaks. I see a lot of their holes on trees in the preserves, even down near the ground. Deadfalls are only cleaned up where they block a trail, and even then some remain, if you can step over them. I like this policy because it discourages the off road bicycles! They have a large area already, and we like having a quiet place to hike. Become a member now and get a free tote bag.

Thank you Lala. He was watching me all right, but even his happy face is pretty stern. He made it known that he wasn't scared of me by not fidgeting and standing his ground...um, tree. Become a member now and get a free tote bag.

unfortunately I cannot see the pictures. about 5 years ago an eagle landed on my neighbors roof. the neighborhood all came out and quietly stood and snapped pictures until. he took wing. and once, while walking in a nearby reserve, a hawk dove in front of me, snagged a squirrel and rose back up. I was breathless at the speed. You cannot conceive the many without the one.

That confuses me, so I'll ask right out- why can't you see the pictures? I'm impressed by these birds. Really, impressed by all flying birds. If you think about it from our perspective as earthbound apes, flight is an amazing thing. Swallows used to follow my tractor when I was mowing, darting and diving for the bugs I was stirring up. They're aerial acrobats, so graceful and very fast. Become a member now and get a free tote bag.

Awesome! The Nature Channel is Back! Awesome Pics Kzoo! What did I say?---that a small bird sings All day long, save when a brown pair Of hawks from the wood float with wide wings Strained to a bell: 'gainst noon-day glare You count the streaks and rings. Sure that was a hawk? Seems more like a ham to me, as both NaughtyinSO and I have noted... hammmm... They are magnificent shots, and your patience was clearly rewarded. Us? We didn't even have to work for 'em to enjoy 'em! We don't get a lot of majestic wildlife here in NYC. Our rats, for instance, are resourceful, adaptive, and even intelligent, but one would be hard-pressed to call them majestic. When a red-tailed hawk ("Pale Male") made his nest in the facade of a Fifth Avenue building, it was news for years -- especially since he seemed to have a succession of mates (eight, at last count). While most were the result of the females having unfortunate urban encounters, at least one was of the "other woman" variety. The tabloids had a field day with the story for days. Not sure it had any great effect on the variant sexuality community due to all the tsk-tsking, but my hope is that at least one human couple used it as a springboard to discussing opening up their relationship. After all, if we can't learn from the animals, from what can we learn? So please, as far as this blog follower is concerned, post all the nature photos you want. In fact, hell, why not post one and ask (dare?) people to leave justifications at to why it absolutely belongs on a sex site in your comments? I've always read that New York had a wide variety of wild life. The first time I visited I got propositioned by hookers and labeled as gay by a shopkeeper. I remember when that New York hawk was getting so much press. The city seems to make a big deal of everything to do with itself- and Ted Cruz says you folks aren't "Real Americans"! Those are great photos! I've got some shots somewhere of a hawk that visits my condo courtyard quite often and scares the heck our of Frank. Sometimes, it even walks on the sidewalks...I suppose, looking for critters as snacks. I've never seen one do that before! I suspect it's a Coopers hawk instead of a Red Tail...it's smaller...but equally fierce!
