Does he have his papers... we wouldn't want INS busting down the door in the middle of the night. Though that probably wouldn't stop them.

M Grandmother had a similar dog back in the early eighties when I was in OK. He would always go ape shit, barking like mad when ever someone came to the door including when people were coming home. One cold winter day I was wearing an old Air Force parka with the hood up and when I opened the door he was there going crazy, so I leaned down a bit and barked loudly back at him. He spun around started moving his legs but not yet getting traction was just scratching his toenails on the floor and yipping and trying like hell to beat feet for somewhere far away. When he did get traction he left a trail of piss the whole way across the living room floor as he disappeared down the hall yipping all the way. After that he stayed by the hall when he barked at the door for a long while not daring to go to the door when someone came. I guess I traumatized the poor little guy. But he wasn't a bad dog though I'm more a bigger dog kind of person.
That's a great story! I've called a dog's bluff a few times too. You can kind of sense which ones you can buffalo. This guy keeps an eye on the neighbors but he's pretty quiet. Of course, he's got backup now. I never figured I'd say yes to a tiny dog, but my wife loves him. At least Marco won't drag her sliding through snowdrifts the way Gracie can.

Normaly I dont like dogs that look like cats or rats. I am a shepherd fan. So we got one for my son. Then came a Maltesepoodle rescue. Big dog 145 lbs. small one 12 lbs. Wife and daughter went gaga over it. Gave it a small dog complex. Like you my dog has a dog for the past 4 years. He acts so tough and barks up a storm. A slight noise and he runs back to us or behind the big dog.

My kids are involved in dog rescue, foster and training. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats. It is a miracle that we don't have a few dozen animals. By the time we train the rescues we don't want to let them go. They grow on you in no time. Love the pictures.
This little guy reminds me of a bird more than anything else, he's so frail. PD's very fond of him already, so it appears he's staying. Gracie kind of sticks to me anyhow, so it evens out.

Sure! Gracie chases but she never catches. I think Marco could follow the rabbit right into the hole!

    He's adorable.
If Gracie hasn't eaten him by now there is a life long friendship forming there.

She seems to like the little fucker. I wasn't sure how she was gonna deal with him rubbing his dick all over her, but she's getting even already. He was lying on his back and she mashed her huge nose right down on his pecker. THAT got his attention, and he wasn't sure he liked it!

Great post! He's a cutie; love those pics. Be sure and let us know how he gets on in the forest. I'm visualizing him in a pack on Gracie's back with his little head poking out! So fun. Thanks!
I'm gonna try walking him at least part time. The exercise won't hurt him as long as we don't overdo it. Winter we may have to try something different. he doesn't look like a cold weather dog to me.

Marco's gonna need Gracie in the woods. He looks like raptor bait to me.

What a great looking dog!!!! He looks like he's around Esperanza's size. Too bad there's so much distance between us, she might like a good humping. It's a good feeling knowing you can give a little animal security for the span of their life and those little fuckers can be so entertaining.
I thought the same thing: Chihuahua mix, but son in law insisted that the breeder said Marco was just a runt- that all his littermates were regular sized rat terriers. Not like it matters- Gracie's a mix and she's a lot bigger than most Labs. She's got really long legs. I'm sure that's what Marco loves about her, those sexy gams! She's big, strong and jet black- what's not to love?

He'll need a little red knitted dog sweater for winter, and maybe some matching rain boots! I hope your wife knits, otherwise there is always the pet store.

Aw, Venus, I could never hold my head up in the woods again if I showed up with a dog in a sweater. Maybe some Carhartts....or a fur coat and mukluks.
PD wanted to get a sweater for Gracie but I refuse to humiliate a Labrador retriever that way. She's made for the cold and loves it. She swims in below freezing temperatures.

I vote Marco for the new Black Flirting mascot lol.
So cool of you guys, and it is awesome that Miss Gracie took to him... they like having a pack I think even if it includes a 5 lb. leghumper lol. Yes the little fella hit the lottery with you guys adopting him, that makes me smile buddy
There really isn't anything wrong with all his frenetic humping...but it's annoying. Gracie would give me a look, like "Really?" but she was very tolerant. They do play and chase. I'm hoping that he'll calm down, get to feeling more secure, and chill. I guess we could always sic the cat on him- the cat Franz is not a dog fancier. Also, Marco weighs five pounds and Franz, twenty. So we do have a reserve disciplinarian.

The little guy seems happy here. He's very affectionate.

Isn't he though? He looks like a fruitbat. It'll take some adjustment but I figure we'll work it out. We didn't want him going to the pound. He's far too nice a dog for that. I've met people I'd take to the pound....but not Marco.

He weighs five pounds! Gracie is a hundred and ten, and Franz the cat twenty. So he's bottom critter whether he knows it or not. I considered getting Gracie a purse to carry him in, but she's not really that kind of girl. She's more the rough tough outdoorsy type.

I was interested that you pegged him as a toy fox terrier. They look remarkably similar. When my son in law got him they insisted he's a runt rat terrier, but I suspected a chihuahua mix, because of his size. Both you and I know how breeders can be- a lot like used car salesmen.

Whatever he is, Gracie and PD like him, and so do I. He's fitting in pretty well.

I think you must be right Leo. I have no experience with tiny dogs. I'm not sure how far he can walk in summer, let alone winter. Gracie and I are cold weather animals and I don't want to torture him, but he really cries when we leave without him, and he's beside himself when we come home. So I'll have to figure out a way to carry him and keep him warm, or leave him at home.

I know that, and I respect your opinion. In the end, it doesn't much matter- he's here and he's apparently staying. I've had strange discussions with dog owners and trainers and they speculate wildly about what breeds went into a mutt. With a mutt, it's anyone's guess...I've heard people say Gracie must be part pit bull. Personally, I don't see it.

But I honestly think he looks both like a rat terrier and a toy fox. The two look so much alike! Who the hell knows? I do appreciate you pointing it out though. I never did quite buy that runt business.

That's right...it really doesn't matter unless you would be a breeder. Gracie is the right weight for a purebred lab female, and she looks purebred to me.
With all the puppy mills in this Country, they have made a mess with breeds, a lot of them don't look even close to what they're supposed to anymore

Yes! There's not a thing wrong with purebreds- until greedy and unscrupulous breeders get ahold of them. They breed litters with defects knowingly, and breed for characteristics that are detrimental to the health of the animal and the breed. American breeders ruined German Shepherds and I'm seeing the same thing in Malemutes. And just look at what "breeding" has done to bulldogs! I think it's a crime.

It is kinda like that. She's a big girl but I never thought of her as huge til he stood next to her. He's like a hummingbird.
