Letter to an Aussie Friend Dear Annette, We're just shy of living in an armed camp here, but I don't doubt that will soon change and the camp will be fully armed. Our constitution is just a talking point now for conservatives. This is all about the acquisition of power and wealth and they don't care by what means they acquire it. Their capacity for hypocrisy is a sight to behold. It is not hyperbole to call this a fascist coup. Even some liberals are tsk-tsking over protest here claiming that we mustn't make waves. And there is the usual distaste for more violent protest. In a capitalist society where human value is based on how much property you have, the destruction of property is a valid protest and a true statement. It's a legitimate revolutionary act. This coup is powered by anti-intellectualism to the point of being anti-knowledge and anti-fact. There is a pride in their ignorance and in their refusal to learn. They are equally proud of their bigotry and hatred. I have been lectured ad nauseam that I must try to understand and empathize with people who will resort to violence against other citizens, as if neo-nazis and white supremacists have any inclination to remain peaceful. The apologists do not understand that the argument has already been framed- the culture war is about to rise in temperature from warm to red hot. And the flame of ignorant populist hatred of supposed elites- read educated people here- is being fanned by other elites, the wealthy and powerful corporations who see a chance to pillage what's left of the country and have it all for themselves. The acolytes of Trump are so blind in their devotion to their ignorant and petulant leader that they refuse to see his sellout of their heritage to Vladimir Putin all for Trump's own personal gain. This is end stage capitalism. This is what it looks like. The corporations so worshipped by conservatives see only two classes- winners and losers. Trump will lead all of us to destruction and never bat an eye, because he believes in nothing at all beyond his own ego. Thanks. There will be no exchanges with AB here. There are plenty of places for him to spread his bullshit. This isn't one of them. I think we're up to it too, but that's no prediction of victory. This is not gonna be easy. It'll take lots of different approaches combined and a terrific amount of energy. But I'm inspired and impressed so far. Trump's done a lot of damage in a very short time, but there's mounting opposition to him. It doesn't take a large percentage of the population to effect change. Trump himself was elected by the slimmest minority of a minority, and that's in spite of ruthless and systematic voter suppression and Russian hacking, along with the collusion of elements of the FBI. I'd have preferred to live in less interesting times, particularly at this point in my life. But we don't get to choose. We only get to choose how we respond. he's a puppet not just controlled by Putin, but by Bannon, Flynn, and sonny boy in law.. he has ADD, he can't concentrate, he never was in charge of any large Corp. all was done from the 26th floor of the tRump tower. with a few close confidant. the only time he had a big company was the casino... and we all know how well that went.. we are not up shits creek with out a paddle.. we are in shits creek and we are paddling and the biggest, highest , falls are approaching fast. if we are not on the way over already. I m just wondering in a few months, if he claims that the government has to confiscate people guns , cause he is in fear of an over throw. face piles of trials with smiles.. Things haven't reached a critical point yet, we still have time to protest and show the world what an incompetent dangerous fool he is. I was glad to see the woman's march on Washington showing Trump that Americans rather what gender will stick up to him. Surrounding himself with the likes of Bannon, Tillerson. Does he really think that he's running the show over Bannon? What he has said the the President of Mexico. and Australasia are a few more examples of his inability to be president. A president who tells government officials if you don't back me up you will lose your job. Telling the scientists who are government employees what they can and can't say because it goes against what Trump says is wrong. Having Bannon advise him as to what we need to do military wise vs those in the intelligence who know what is going on is wrong. A man who relies on twitter, is hot headed, how he belittles those who don't agree with him. He makes no scene most of the time when he speaks. He has travel bans on countries that had nothing to do with 9/11 yet those countries that did there isn't a ban. Why because he has hotels there, and in his own words why would I not like them they make me money. He has to much conflict of interest with his business and his role as president. Then you have Putin God only knows what he has in store with him. He has done a lot of done a lot of damage in what just over two weeks in office? I don't see things getting any better but only worse. It's to bad that the Republicans who said they wouldn't vote for him are all now like his puppets, and don't seem to care about the rest of the country. So another question arises what are we going to do with this Fascist NeoNazi President? Do I think were in trouble yes I do and I'm very frightened what is going to happen.
