One More Time.....
One More Time..... Last weekend I got a mass text from my Corporate Foreman that we would be off this whole week through the 6th. I needed to text my crew and let them know to stay home and shelter in place. I was also supposed to text the head of the other maintenance crew at my location and make sure she's aware of our shutdown. Covid-19 cases have been rising again and the state is now on mandatory face masks or pay a fine. I text my crew and they are fine with the prospect of a mini-vacation, but before I can even begin to start fantasizing what I'm gonna do with my new found freedom, the other crew leader texts me back that her boss told her they were working 3 days this week. I text this info back to my Foreman who responds, "No, this is a total shutdown, nobody works". I say "OK" and I wait......... not 5 minutes goes by and I get a text from him agreeing that they are working and someone from our crew will need to be there to make sure they don't fuck something up. I knew it....... This shit happens every time the corporate office starts "tweaking" our hours. There's the first text that's just like candy in your mouth and before you can even begin to enjoy it, a 2nd text turns it into a piece of mint flavored asshole. So I offer to cover the Mon-Weds days rather than go back to my crew and make them eat ass mints. But of course this other department does fuck things up and by late Weds it was apparent they were gonna have to come back Thursday, which means, "yes", you guessed it, more mints for me. So, of course they come in late, Thursday. I find busy work nearby so I can leave as soon as they do, and after a few hours I see them taking a break. Stay calm, I tell myself, they'll be done soon. Then they're taking a lunch break. Just when I had almost worked out the details of where I was gonna stash their dead bodies, they informed me they were done. Fuckers!!! So today is my 1st day of shutdown, which I was going to have off anyway because of July 4th falling on Saturday, but I get Monday off, too. As today was nearing an end I got a text, from my Foreman...... We've got all of next week off until July 13th ........... now I'm just sitting here waiting for this mint to turn to shit in my mouth....... How is your area doing with the resurgence of Covid-19? |

It’s pretty shocking to read that in 2 days, there were more new in the U.S. than all confirmed cases we have had. Our government has taken a cautious approach, following the advice of the medical experts. Re-opening has been happening on a regional basis. They do not want to repeal approvals.

I thought this shit was supposed to be killed off by sunlight and higher temps. Just how much damn sunshine and high temps does it take? And where the hell does that sun have to shine???

I think I'll be permanently working from home. And I'm getting used to it. Traffic is getting shittier and shittier... and ... uh... ... Oh yeah... replaced my rear disks last week. Who knew braking would be so simple. Of course now that I can REALLY brake, I've had to increase the speed I drive at - otherwise it's no fricken challenge. ... is there another way to look at it Going Too Fucking Far NEW Blog Features RevealeD O O A Foolproof Method Posted Over on that NEW site O O

We're back to "red," from yellow. Or whatever the colorful metric is. Our governor caved to the reopen pressure and since other beaches were open right across the state line, we opened ours too. Now there's clusters upon clusters, each pretty much traceable to a few graduate house parties and a few large pre-covid level bar scenes. People are fucking idiots.

My state is having record number of diagnosis, and the death tolls climb every day. We closed, reopened, and you would have thought from the way people are acting that Covid has somehow disappeared. Our governor refused to put out a staewide mandate on mask wearing. For all the numbers that are diagnosed in our state, I wonder how many more cases there have been that are reported to another state, because of tourists, most especially to the Myrtle Beach area, catch it here and then return home only to be diagnosed in their home state?

Does anyone not think mass protests and anarchy in the last few weeks might have an impact on the spread? Oh yes, they have a “right” to protest. I would be shocked if the spread did not increase.

Things were OK in MN until just this last week, when new cases started to creep up again. Our governor is finally considering a statewide mask mandate (Minneapolis and St. Paul have had them for weeks). These new cases seem to be the young and the careless, as opposed to the nursing home set who made up round one. I am grateful to be retired and able to hunker in if things get bad. Be safe mc!

There is no resurgence in my part of the state.... yet. Everybody and their brother has come up here for the holiday, though. I feel like, because my state was kind of hit early on, maybe the second wave won't be quite so bad, but only time will tell.

Yeah those mints can be deceptive. We have been pretty fortunate here in Vt. The governor locked things down pretty quick and thoroughly. Things have mostly opened back up though not to full operational levels yet. Masks were made mandatory for any business operations and strongly advised for personal use in public areas when in close contact. The only resurgence's have been from a couple of family get togethers one of which was rather large and particularly foolish. I have to wonder just how stupid some people are when I see these fools on the news reports and such all hanging out with no protective measures in use. But I guess if you choose to follow a fool you become a fool. Hopefully the fools crappy halfassed handling of the situation will shine the sunlight on his poor performance and he will disappear soon. Vive La Difference
