I have only been here for a few months but I was beginning to wonder if I was wasting my time ... recent experience has shown that I am not, but that to get the best out of things you have to take the initiative.

Having arrived in my hotel in the early hours of the morning thanks to airline delays and airport chaos I was enjoying the fact hat I did not have an early start with a lie-in and checking in on Black Flirting.

Unfortunately I noted that my message to say I would be in town had not received a response, at that point however the day took a turn for the better with one simple decision. I remembered that I had a number for instant messaging and thought, well, she would not have shared it if I was not intended to use it, so I'll give it a try.

In short, a few hours later I was wishing away my business meeting having agreed to meet up and booked a hotel room (thanks byhours.com), the response to my message having far outstripped my early morning hopes of maybe a get to know you coffee!

Due to our busy schedules the time together was short, but VERY sweet, and I set off on the next leg of my trip with a huge smile on my face thinking about what might be on my next visit to town.

So, if you are not getting the responses you hope for don't give up, there may be a very nice surprise just around the corner as I learnt this week. There are people out there, of whom I am one, who really do want to meet up.

 It's a shame when people get treated like that, not only because they do not deserve it but because it makes it more difficult for those of us who do genuinely want to meet up.

I am generally only free to meet when I am travelling on business but that means that a bit of flexibility may be required, I am always up front about that and would never leave anyone hanging about without an apology at least, in this day and age it is so easy to keep in touch there is no excuse.
