 Just simply the date that the friend visited your site last, but I can tell you the site does play with these and they do make artificial Dates to increase the perception of activity..

 That is the last time that person logged on to the site where they created their profile. It used to show on the profile when you viewed one. Note all the sites that Various has at the bottom of the home page. Unless you specifically set your profile settings to limit views from only the sign up site, all Various sites can see your profile. Various owns AdultXXXDate, Black Flirting and many others.

It is handy to see when someone was last active on the site.

 It used to appear all of the time. It is last visit/last online.
I really wish they would bring it back.
They stopped it so you can not see that someone has not been active for over a year.
That could be up to 70% of all so called members.
